Funnel Cap

Austin Venema Grand Haven High School Jeremy Case Ever spill while drinking liquids? How about spilling while pouring liquids? The funnel cap is an attachable part to bottles. The funnel cap solves spilling by having a cutout in the part creating a funnel that leads to a open hole. Then the funnel allows liquids to funnel out into a specified hole for more precise pouring and drinking. The threads on the bottom of the part allow it to screw onto a plastic water bottle (Polar mountain water bottle). There is also an undercut feature allowing the cap to possibly catch any minor spills while pouring or drinking. Different versions of the part change threads depending on the bottle (example: Powerade bottle, Soda two leader). Furthermore the design has an upper cork that seals off liquid when a bottle is not in use. The product was created using Autodesk inventor 2019. The overall project will be made by FDM 3D printing which is taking an STL file and splitting the part into layers and them printing layer by layer. The project will be printed out of PLA (polylactic acid). PLA is biodegradable and bioactive thermoplastic. Both FDM printing and PLA make the project cost effective allowing for many products and prototypes to be made.
