The gallon model is often used in early mathematics to help children make sense of the quantitative relationships among several units—gallon, quart, pint, and cups. A gallon is equal to four quarts; a quart is equal to two pints; and a pint is equal to two cups. In this model, the volume relationships are retained proportionally. Have fun!
