This is the Gear Playground, it is designed to inspire kids while they have fun. It's made to be expanded and built upon. The gear playground helps children learn motor skills, simple mechanics, creativity, and problem solving. With base pieces that can be connected by dove tail slots, and pins that allow gears to easily slide on, this makes for the perfect project for young children. While designing this model I avoided sharp edges, small parts, and complicated assembly. The only thing I would caution towards is to sand the bottoms of the pins for the best/smoothest outcome, the print will work either way but a sanded pin will give you an optimal playground. Other than that there are no supports, easy to understand parts, and the opportunity for multi colored or single colored prints. Large pieces should be placed 2 slots away from the edge of the adjacent gear, and small pieces should be placed 1 slot away from the edge of the adjacent gear. Gears can be placed diagonally from other pieces but it can become too complicated for younger users. I am working on 3 print profiles, the first/basic one that I used, an A1 mini compatible one, and a print profile that lists each part individually. HOW TO BUILD: 1.) Base pieces slide (or clip) into the sides of each other 2.) Place pins into the grid pattern where-ever you plan to put gears 3.) The pins will perfectly fit onto gear pieces when the gear is placed directly on top The gear variety is as follows: Small-Basic Small-Swirl Small-TwistHandle Large-Basic Large-Swirl Large-Spiral Large-TwistHandle Please message me with any complaints, concerns, or ideas. I would love to hear them in order to satisfy your needs and improve the design!
