I had a few assembly issues *for my printer* with this clock. The design is excellent, it works incredibly well, but I found a few tolerances a bit too tight to actually assemble and use.
- I cloned the base, adding an extra 0.5mm between the pins that hold the gear train. The gear train was just too tight to move, and was actually flexing the base into a curve convex to the pin locations.
- I also added a little groove around the circumference that the dial face "snaps" into, so the face also does not put pressure on, and bend the base apart.
- The hands and gear surfaces to which the hands mount have no tolerance between them. Assembly was not possible, even after de-burring the edges.
- I printed the original author's hands again (so no .stl files here) at: hour hand: 2% increase in size, and minute hand 3.5% increase to give me a 0.2mm press fit clearance with parts as they came off the printer.
