My design for the GeeBee R3 fantasy airplane created originally by Mirco Pecorari, the Italian artist and designer. This is designed to be a static model, roughly 10 inches long. I have been a big fan of the GeeBee and the fantasy R3 for a long time and finally decided to create a printable model. Since the original art was just a side view it leaves a bit of the design open for interpretation for things like the size and shape of the wings. I went with an elliptical wing much like a Spitfire and a tail shape similar to the original GeeBee R1.
Printing notes:
The wings and propeller sections are printed standing up using a raft (in my case). The nose is also printed standing up. The nose is hollow, but has blended internal edges so that support is not needed. Most parts are split to print flat and glue together.
Assembly:
This is pretty much glue it together, fill the seams, sand it smooth and paint the model. You will probably have to clean up some of the ho
