This project started with 3D scanning a ginger root to capture its irregular, organic shape. The scan provided a detailed mesh that included the natural surface texture and branching form. The raw scan was then imported into Blender for processing. I trimmed away the unwanted parts of the scan, realigned the model to sit properly on the workspace grid, and used the remesh and smoothing tools to clean up rough areas without losing the organic detail. I then sliced the model cleanly into two angled halves using Blender’s bisect tool, making flat internal faces that would later hold the cable channels. On these inside faces, I modeled semi-circular grooves sized for standard cables (about 4–6 mm). When the two halves are joined, these grooves form closed channels that securely hold the wires. For assembly, I added basic alignment features so the halves lock together consistently after printing. This allows the piece to open easily for inserting or removing cables, instead of threading them t
