I first made this to help scrape glue from the print bed while cleaning the uneven globs that would build up when using the glue stick. That worked ok, but didn’t solve the basic problem of uneven glue on the print bed. But I did make an overall step improvement as follows:
1. Make a saturated solution of glue. I did that by adding the end of my used glue stick to a small, covered container and letting it sit for a day.
2. Apply a small amount of the solution to the print bed. I used an eye dropper shown in the photo.
3. Spread the saturated glue solution on the bed. It should be very thin and uniform. I used the glue spreader.
There were several real advantages for me. First, adhesion was much better especially for PLA prints. Edges didn’t seem to curl up as much and the first layer was more consistent. Second, I didn’t have to use as much glue. As a consequence, I don’t have to clean my bed as often and it’s easier to clean.
