Newer knockdown sock decoys have a pivot which allows them to fold up for easier storage and transport. (see photos of Dive Bomb Snow goose decoys) I had some older Deadly Decoy Canada goose decoys that I decided to update.

This was my first design with a print in place hinge and it took more than a few iterations to get correct. Hinge is working correctly so adjusting the holes for stake out and the backbone rod should be all that's necessary for other decoy brands.

I replaced the backbone (white plastic) with a bicycle spoke. Spokes are easy to come. A friend donated an old bike to the cause which provided approx 5 doz spokes and nipples. I insert the spoke into and through the pivot piece, screw on the nipple, heat the nipple, and pull back into the plastic pivot. When it cools it will be solidly embedded into the filament and there will be no sharp ends. I may try to reuse the backbone in other designs.
