I needed to add on a FPV system to my 3DR Iris quadcopter. I previously tried to mount the video TX inside the shell... this looked great because all the components were self contained, but caused too much magnetic interference with the PixHawk controller since it was mounted right next to it. So I decided to create a separate FPV Pod.
I wanted something self contained, easily removable, and far enough away from the GPS and PixHawk to make sure I was not creating interference. Also, I wanted something that looked enclosed enough to not look totally out if place on the Iris. Mounting it to the GoPro mount on the front seemed to be a logical choice and I am using the Gimbal power plug below the Quad for power. Although I am using this on the Iris, this should work fine for anything with a GoPro mount.
the mounting holes from the Camera line up, so you can screw the camera in place, but the stock screws will be too short. Mine fit with just enough of a friction fit that I decided
