This model shows the band structure of graphene, which is a single molecular layer of graphite. Graphene has many incredible properties, and is likely to be used in the future in electronics and displays. It is very strong and a good conductor of heat and electricity. Electrons can travel through it almost as if they were massless, like photons. This is a result of graphene's band structure, which is a graph of the energy of electrons as a function of their momentum. The lower valence band and upper conduction band touch at six "Dirac points."
