This is a Gravitrax-compatible corkscrew tower I designed from scratch. We gave our son a Gravitrax starter set and I immediately thought of making some new modules for it, and this is the first one that came to mind. I learned quite a bit about SolidWorks making this, especially how to use the sweep and shell functions. I'm sure some of the geometry can be done better, but hey most of my SolidWorks skill is self-taught with the help of the Internet. I tried to do it in a way that would allow me to add additional turns without having to re-position a lot of other geometry and mates, but I only had limited success. So, I'll save that for another time and share my first Thing here. I included the SolidWorks .sldprt and .step files so you can play with the design too.
I also learned a lot about my new 3D printer, a Bambu Lab A1 with this project. For example, when the Bambu Studio software laid the model down, it added supports for parts of the corkscrew but not the long struts.
