Future Artificial Space HabitatInspired by the “Halo” video game series, specifically Installation 04, this is my interpretation of a futuristic ringworld where civilization can comfortably relax along the sprawling landmasses on the inner side of the ring while work and research can be conducted inside the sprawling cities nested within the hardened shell that protects the outer ring. Ringworlds have long been a fixture of science fiction while attempting to envision the future of a spacefaring humanity. The concept was popularized by Professor Freeman Dyson, who popularized the idea of these megastructures that eventually became known as Dyson Spheres. Dyson himself “borrowed” the idea from science fiction writer Olaf Stapledon's 1937 novel “Star Maker.” While Dyson viewed the spheres as orbiting structures, such as stars, further science fiction authors envisioned them as a habitable sphere enclosing a star, and further interpretations continued from there.
