For some random reason, I decided to make some hardtack. Simple stuff, in it's most basic form made from only water, flour and salt. Keeps literally forever as long as it's kept dry, even if it it doesn't necessarily contain much in the way of actual nutrition. Also known as 'ship's biscuit'. Traditionally, hardtack is soften in water, or a beverage such as coffee. However, it seemed to me that if it were in smaller, bite-sized pieces, it could be softened in the mouth, possibly in the manner of a jawbreaker. And that's what this mold is for. It is intended to be used in the fashion of a cookie cutter to cut out an approximately 3"x3" square of dough, at the same time scoring it into 36 bite-sized pieces that can be broken off and consumed one at a time, no dunking in coffee necessary.
