After a few days of marathon ASA printing on my Qidi – at a cozy 65 °C in the build chamber – my poor Bento Box unfortunately transformed into something resembling modern art. The shape? Let’s just say… ambitious. The pictures speak for themselves. Thanks to a thermal camera (and a dash of detective work), I discovered that the hot air happily swirling around the chamber was giving my Bento Box a toasty kiss of over 100 °C. At some point, the ABS just said, “I’m out.” Since I wasn’t exactly thrilled about reprinting the whole thing in PA(CF) or some other superhero-grade material, I figured: why not just build a heat shield? A small part to politely redirect the hot air away from my poor Bento Box. Said and done – I printed it in PAHCF, since that stuff can handle 140 °C without breaking a sweat. I haven’t done another long print session since (treat yourself, right?), but so far, it seems to be working great. The Bento Box stays cool – literally.
