I needed a better heatsink for my TOX3 S905x4 box. The old one was a simple aluminium Northbridge cooler measuring 38x38 mm. The new one is an full-copper heatsink from Cooltex, ordered from AliExpress, measuring 40x40x10 mm.
Unfortunately, on the TOX3, various SMD resistors and capacitors are higher than the CPU, which made it necessary to use a 1mm spacer. Simply attaching the heatsink with thermal glue, as with the TOX1, was not an option.
I designed a mount for my heatsink based on the Enzotech CNB-R1 Clip and printed it in ASA. So far, everything fits and works perfectly. PETG might also be sufficient, but that depends on the CPU’s maximum temperature.
I attached the heatsink and the shim to the CPU using thermal paste. The mount is secured using the pins from the old Northbridge mount.
