I created the Helicopter Benchy, “The Choppy” was inspired by the original 3DBenchy I tried to keep the classic look and feel of the original Benchy, including details like the smoke stack, the 2 round front ports, and the rear license plate. Why Print the “Choppy” ? Full Printer Workout: It’s not just a cute model. This helicopter tests critical things like bridges, overhangs, surface quality, and moving parts tolerance — all in one print. Functional Parts: The folding landing gear isn’t just for show — it checks if your printer can handle precise tolerances and snap-fit mechanisms without getting stuck. Bridges & Overhangs: The open cockpit design, the engine vent holes in the rear, and the rotor details force your printer to handle tricky angles and unsupported spans. Visual Feedback: Surface ripples, stringing, or warping will be obvious on a model with so many curves, windows, and fine geometry. You'll see your print quality immediately. First Layer Inspection: Carefully check the rotor blades to make sure the layer lines are properly connected. Directions: No Supports Needed The top propellers need to be pressed on. STEP 1 - Start on one side and walk it around till it snaps on. STEP 2 - Carefully extend the landing gear towards the bottom of the print.
