This is just a simple structure in a hexagonal shape from above, but square/rectangular from the side. You should be able to neatly build walls, towers, etc. from it.
The idea came as I was playing _Champions_ many years ago. At the time, the standard measurement was the hex, which was equal to 2 meters in-game and 25mm on the tabletop. Some of the characters were flying, and we were improvising with dice to elevate the figures on the table, and I just thought that having something designed for the purpose might be a good idea.
Then along came 3D printing design tools. Building a hexagonal block 25mm high and 25mm across was the easy part; saving on filament by making it hollow was a bit more work. Someone suggested that I put slots for gluing in 10x2mm magnets, which seemed like a good call (that way, a tower's a little less likely to fall over, and if it does fall it's a _lot_ less likely to scatter all over the place).
There's still the problem of how to build a platform fo
