Most 3D printed screws printed with the threads parallel to the build plate fail under high torque as the layers separate. This is a screw designed to be printed in two parts and then connected afterwards.
The thread is printed with the layers perpendicular to the bed in order to withstand higher torque. A flat section was removed from the screw in order to make it easier to print.
The Cap can be printed in orientation.
After both parts are printed they can be combined by dunking each part in hot water and then forcing them together. They were designed with minor tolerances in favor of using this method of combining.
