This is (one half) of a part used to create a magnetic, self-aligning joint in HO scale railroads using code 100 track. This should aid in re-aligning of removable track sections so long as they are disengaged and re-engaged relatively straight along the rail's direction (can't easily be used for installation from above/below).
The piece has been designed to use coated 6mm x 8mm neodymium cylindrical magnets in the nose/pocket of each half (4 pieces / joint). The thickness of the bottom is designed so that it can be used without the typical plastic ties, but with foam floor underlayment.
Suggested order of installation after printing:
Install a pair (with magnets) under your track and anchor the track using epoxy at the joiners and appropriate fasteners along the track/each half.
After everything has cured, use a thin-kerf cut off saw to carefully cut the track in the small clearance slot provided.
Each joint requires 2 printed pieces, and 4 magnets, glued in with prop
