Human Scale 3D Printed Stool

This is a stool. For sitting on. The seat height is 20 inches, making it an appropriate height for a human sitting at an office desk. It was printed on a Big Area Additive Manufacturing system made by Cincinnati Incorporated in around 2 hours (note: Print speed slowed down significantly to allow for cooling between layers).

The design features a wide base for stability and cutout for the user’s feet. It was printed in two parts to allow the seat portion to overhang at greater than 45 degrees without the use of support material by printing the seat upside down. The interface between the base and seat uses a 15 degree taper fit to ensure vertical seat alignment while allowing for rotation of the seat.

The design has been stress tested (read: “sat upon by individuals weighing”) up to 200 lbs.
