I designed this part to mount the ID5100 head unit to the base for use in my shack. Up until now I had a separate mount that would always move around while changing frequencies or touching the screen. Not any more! This model allows for a wide range of movement of the head, starting from about 10 degrees up from horizontal to about 45 degrees. The lowest setting has a hard stop on the screws used for mounting the base to a vehicle bracket, which prevents the control head from pinching or stressing the cables, while still allowing access to the memory card and connectors.Use the magnet screws that came with your radio, or any conical type screw to affix the mount to the back of the control head. These do not need to be excessively tight, but firm will do. You might see a SLIGHT flex inward of the arms when you tighten the head screws down, but this is by design and adds to the rigidity. Then use the mounting screws to put the mount onto the base, adjust to your liking and firmly tighten
