IKEA Besta Corner Brace

Ikea Besta Corner Brace Some of you maybe seen my other model photos, where Revox A77 reel-to-reel tape deck standing on IKEA BESTÅ cabinet. Yeah, 18kg of quite fragile vintage electronic, standing off-center on mixture of thin wood and cardboard. I thought it is fine until I removed the shelf inside. The whole construction immediately shifted one side! I had to reinforce it… and put the shelf back :) There is enough space on the back side of the cabinet to use some corner braces so I designed this one. After installation, the whole construction now feels sturdy enough to keep my Revox safe :) I strongly advice you to do the same if you keep something heavy on top of your Besta cabinets. Also, this corner braces helps to keep your cabinet in shape so no more misaligned doors! How to print and use this model PLA is stiff but it may become brittle overtime. I didn’t want to worry about it so I printed mine with PETG. If you have ABS or ASA laying around it will be even better. I think 3 walls and 25% infill is enough but you may ad more if you like. Use 3-3.5mm diameter, 20mm countersunk screws. I used 3mm diameter, 25mm in length flat head ones and it is fine. If you have 25mm countersunk ones, screw one slowly checking if it not trying to go outside your cabinet. It will go around 1mm deeper than flat head so be careful!
