Ever wanted to frame a UI icon as art? I turned a classic "image file" icon into a minimalistic 3D-printed decorative piece — and played with perception while I was at it. The icon is printed in black filament on top of a 1 mm (5 layers) thin transparent base made entirely from infill (35% grid, 0 top/bottom layers). This creates a mesh-like background that gives the illusion the icon is floating, especially when placed in front of a white wall. Thanks to the high contrast, the icon appears disconnected, almost like it’s levitating — but it’s all one clever print.The piece fits into a separate base stand to keep it upright and display-ready. Ideal for desks, shelves, or creative spaces. Print Notes:Designed for 2-color prints via AMS or a manual color change around Layer 6 (for 0.2mm layer height).Transparent PLA is ideal for the base, black PLA for the icon.No supports needed.
