Indexable End Mill

This is a design I came up with after having a hard time finding an EM that uses the same inserts we have in the shop. I used 1 inch Thompson rod for the body because its precision ground, however since it is case hardened I had to adjust my fabrication strategy to account for that. The case hardened nature of the material made it so I could not tap through so I made a recess that will hold a modified 6-32 nut to secure the inserts. Originally the EM was designed to have three cutting edges, but I came to realize that for the 1 inch rod was too much so I went with two cutting edges instead.
