Combining inexpensive components and 3D printed equipment, a simple optical rail set-up is used to give hands on experience with thin lenses. The optical rail is upside down Hot Wheels car track. It uses a 3D printed housing, lens holders and screen. All the lenes are 38mm diameter student grade optics. Both double convex and double concave lenses are used in the exercise. There are two different housings for each type of light. One has a 30mm square frame where an image with text is displayed.
