Injection Molding Machine

This is a model of a stand alone injection mold machine I made for a class last year. We worked in groups and each group was given a plastic part that we had to design a mold for and a machine to use that mold. I was responsible for the mold and the overall design idea. I used 8020 for the frame and compatible pneumatic cylinders. The only custom parts were some mounting brackets for the vertical cylinders and injection cylinder. Mold: Because of the design, no ejector pins were needed which helped keep the design simple. Automation: The design also includes an extraction and trimming process where the molded part is pulled from the mold using a gripper to grab the gates and a pair of "scissors" to cut the parts from the gates to drop into a collection tub.
