Even though posting it now I actually made this a year ago. As a student I was aware that wearing an ordinary tie clip would get too much attention but I also hate my tie flinging left and right so I made use of the loop at the back of the tie which I usually tuck the smaller end on to make a tie clip that is virtually invisible but still functions well.
I have tried using PLA , HIPS and PETG to print this thing and I found that those made with PLA doesn't stand for long , the clip part loosens up after a week of usage. Those made with HIPS are of the highest quality (and I think ABS should also do) but it is a lot of work to use on such a small print (0.3mm less than 1 min). I prefer printing it with PETG which is not as stiff as HIPS but can be printed with absolute ease.
As a side note, the clip may damage the inside of the small loop
If you find that the loop is still very loose , try clipping a piece of brim in or as what I have done - slide the clip in unt
