This is a very simple wind indicator/burgee for my IOM yacht with mast fitting suitable for 11 mm tube. It is similar in operation to the ones found on full size sailing dinghies and allows the indicator to be easily removed when putting the rig in its box for transportation.
I use 1.2 mm stainless steel welding rod for the wire part - stiff enough to hold its shape but springy enough to flex if it hits anything.
The rubbers are printed in TPU and are a nice interference fit on the rod but easy to adjust or remove.
All other parts are PLA+, but possibly choose a colour which won't absorb sunlight and soften (so, not black or other dark colour!)
The rotator allows any suitable material such as spinnaker ripstop nylon to be wrapped around and glued on - I fix it on with double sided tape. Colour may be important - pink works well, orange not quite as visible, navy is invisible against the trees we have around the loch but excellent against the water. I print using a brim as the mast
