Inserts for the Ioniq 9 cupholder slots to reduce the pressure from the three spring-loaded lobes.
I am very much enjoying my new Ioniq 9. But in my opinion, the lobes in the cupholders are a terrible design. The single pivot is at the top. The springs are very strong. If the can, bottle, or cup you stick in there does not have strong sides, it can be very hard to extract. I also came close to having one of the lobes puncture a full styrofoam drink container.
I have designed and 3D printed an insert to push the lobes back. There are three models I designed, each with varying number of slots for those who want to use fewer lobes. Of course either the 1-lobe or 2-lobe models could be rotated to reduce the number of deployed lobes. I did design these to fit with the OEM replaceable rubber bottom in place below my inserts.
My car is green with a gray interior, hence the color palette I chose. I have also printed in PETG since I live in the southwest US with significant thermal issues i
