I designed this thing to snap on to my ipod touch and hold a magnifying lens so that I could look at and photograph things that are much closer and smaller than I could normally. I purchased a 13.7mm diameter x 12mm focal length double convex lens from Edmund Optics, catalog number 76770. If you get a different lens, you can adjust the openSCAD file by editing the objectivediameter and objectivethickness to the values for the lens that you are using.

The thing is printed in three pieces. You first set phase equal to 0 to print the bracket that snaps on to the phone. You then set phase equal to 1 to print the lens mount, and phase equal to 2 to print the lens retainer. Once you have the pieces you glue the lens mount to the bracket. I have had good luck with E6000 adhesive. When that is dry, you insert the lens and snap the retainer in to hold the lens in place. I use a tiny drop of glue to hold the retainer in place so that the lens does not fall out.
