IR Sensor

Infrared sensor is most commonly used for object detection and avoidance. The effective range of the sensor is 2 - 30 cm, trimmer (potentiometer) is used to calibrate the sensor for desired range. Operating Voltage 3 - 5 V DC. It can easily be used with arduino or raspberry pi GPIO.
