J.E.L (Jack's Egg Lander)

This was my take on the classic "egg drop challenge" back in grade eleven. I've been trying to consolidate some of my older models onto Thingiverse as a kind of portfolio, so while I do not recommend that ANYONE try and rebuild this thing as depicted in the image there fully assembled on the counter, I think there's some value in having it on this site.

The way it works is that the carriage on the top of the structure in the last picture there carries the egg in the "cradle", underneath the intersection of all the beams. When the base of the structure makes contact with the ground, the elastics at the top of the structure hold the arms together so that the carriage is slowed in its descent towards the ground, and with any luck, the egg is saved.

There were several reworks of the whole thing over the course of this design process of four weeks or so, so some parts that have files on this post aren't included in the final build at all. Take a look at some of the models if you're curi
