till a toy from late 1950s. It also suffered a complete disassembly… to install a (totally invisible) pilot in the cab! From this toy, I only have the 2 (or 3?) thread worm gear transmission and the flywheels. Casually, I began to glimpse the notion of transmission reversibility with this mechanism!
At the time, the Lille-Lesquin airport, not really overburdened, was used for training pilots. And dozens of Boeing 707 rotations passed over our heads! About noise, nothing to do with the current planes! That would be absolutely unbearable nowadays, but I don’t remember of having suffered of it. In primary school, we visited the Lesquin airport control tower. I don’t have many memories, except a word that greatly impressed me: radiogoniomètre (direction finder)!
