Based on the original model and adapted it for the Joy Divison fans. This design is based on the cover art for Joy Divsion's Unknown pleasures. I reworked it from a desk stand to visualise the radio signal of CP 1919. CP 1919 was the first pulsar ever observed. It’s now known as PSR J1921+2153 and was discovered by Jocelyn Bell Burnell on 28th November 1967. I was inspired by Harold D. Craft’s visualisation (Radio Observations of the Pulse Profiles and Dispersion Measures of Twelve Pulsars), where he divided the pulse signal into 80 consecutive equal segments. This image became iconic when Peter Saville inverted it and used it as the cover art for Joy Division’s album ‘Unknown Pleasures’. To design the separate lines, i converted them into svg-files. The raw data is available in numerous places online (here for example). Print the two parts of the desk stand and insert the 80 curves.
