My cheap desk lamp came with a base that clamps onto the side of the desk. Unfortunately, that clamp places the lamp off the side of the desk so I couldn't use it with my workbench against the wall. I made this replacement base to move the lamp forward enough to freely rotate.
- designed for 12mm lamp posts (seems to be common)
- two m4 hex nuts slot into base
- two very long m4 screws pull together (I used m4 x 65mm)
- glue notch onto bottom of base (aligning & clamping with shorter m4 screws helps)
- optional m4 x 20mm socket cap to lock lamp post (hex nut drops into slot inside lamp post hole)
