This is a control pod add on for Southbend (and possibly other) engine lathes that use a Cutler Hammer 3-phase motor reversing drum switch. This unit slips between the original Cutler Hammer switch and the mounting post on the lathe and provides a compact box to mount a potentiometer, E-stop switch, and jog toggle in order to access some of the extra functionality provided by running the lathe's motor with a Variable Frequency Drive instead of a rotary phase converter or standard three-phase A/C power.
The switch mounting holes are standard 1/2"' for the pot and toggle, and 22mm for the E-stop. The lid is intended to be held on by 2mmx6 to 8mm machine screws. If this doesn't provide enough information for you to execute this project, you should probably not be trying to set your lathe up with a VFD without other input or further research.
