I fitted LED lights in the upper frame rail early on in my ownership of a 3d printer. Much as they look good and are an improvement on no lights, they were far from perfect. It is massively obvious that the print gubbins and X rail will block some light from hitting the part being printed. A true annoyance when watching thru octoprint.
Fast forward to creating this. It is an extension LED segment piece that can be placed anywhere on the printer as needed, or just left clamped up top as it currently is on my printer. I use a camera gooseneck clamp for holding the unit. The light unit is designed with two gopro (two prong) fittings in place. One offset to one end and the other is central. I use one fitting for the gooseneck clamp and the other for a pi cam. Print the frame in a dark colour if you don't want Light bleed from the LEDs shining through the frame.
I have included an optional diffuser. Print the diffuser in neutral/transparent pla to give the illumination a more equal s
