This is a "life sized" BB-8 model. Life-sized based on my estimates from viewing stills from the films and making a best guess approximation.
The model is in sections to be printed on a hobby size 3d printer.
Some parts have tabs on them to help provide stability while printing and are thin enough that they are easily broken or cut off.
This was designed to be a functional robot using a hamster-ball design where the robot is intended to fit inside and move about, motivating the whole model. The head base is designed to hold magnets and caster wheels to connect with the magnets inside the sphere to create the moveable, separated head. There is a piece contoured to the inside of the sphere that can be mounted to the internal robot to hold magnets and can be mounted to a motor to rotate.
The parts with holes in them are intended to allow a nut and bolt to hold them together. The nut should be glued to the inside allowing the flush bolt to secure the pieces together making it
