One of the things I enjoy about 3D printing is the ability to fabricate parts on the spot that aren't on-hand or even non-existent. Case in point: I needed to mate 3/4" poly irrigation tubing to 1/2" liquid-tite electrical conduit. I had connectors for each but of course they were incompatible and there's nothing for sale I know of that would have worked. In the old days I would have broken out my glue and tape kung fu and hoped for the best. Now all I had to do was print a collar to fit the two connectors together. The part itself is one of the simplest shapes you can make. Four lines of OpenSCAD is all it took. But it was exactly what I needed and that's the beauty of it.
The 3/4" connector and liquid-tite connector are PVC which is solvent-weldable. So I printed the collar in ABS which is also solvent-weldable, and fused everything together with pipe cement. The assembly is absolutely water tight and strong, and I have no doubt it will work for a long, long time.
