This is the Lockheed Solid Rocket Booster (SRB) proposal for the Space Shuttle programme. It is worth noting that from a purely technical point of view, the joints on this Lockheed SRB does appear to be superior to that from Thiokol. That said, I would suggest that the reason Thiokol won the contract for the Space Shuttle programme instead of Lockheed could be due to the simplified features of the Thiokol design and thus easier and cheaper to produce and refurbish. The full assembly as you see it here has a nominal case diameter of 156" (156.649" Actual)(3,962.4mm & 3,978.88mm), and an overall height of 459.374" (11,668.1mm). It also has a weight of ~46,503lbs (~21,093kg). You can find the 156-7 igniter for this SRB amongst my other uploaded models. I ran a FEA using SolidWorks SimulationXpress. See attached pictures for results. Centre FoS is 1.31 and the dome is 1.25. The NOTES: 1. The 0.12" flaps in the insulation have a seperation gap of 0.01". This is arbitrary. As this gap appears to collapse during casting of the propellant in order to result in its final dimention, and I am unable to produce a zero thickness feature to emulate this. I have produced the 0.01" spacing. 2. Within the blueprints there were two different types of forward domes. One is simply mentioned with general arrangment dimensions for assembly, while the other one is fully defined. I elected to use the one that was fully defined. This is also the same dome as the aft dome but with a different joint and a different insulation configuration. 2.1 The forward dome does require an enclosure. This enclosure can be produced by anyone on this site rather easily. It simply needs to mate to the forward dome provided and accomodate the 156-7 igniter. There are large ports on the general arrangment of the other type of dome, these ports will not fit onto the dome contained within this model without modification to the port arrangment. 3. I have selected the series configuration for the insulation with t
