Foot stops serve to provide a constant reassurance that your front foot is placed correctly. Especially while riding fast, it's easy to lose focus on your feet, so to feel something as a placemark on your board feels kind of relieving while riding.

Also, it just holds your foot in place from slipping forward, just in case you ride over any sneaky bumps or cracks in the road

This particular one is adjustable. Just loosen the bolts, align it to your foot, and tighten it up.
