This design was created in response to a challenge issued by NASA called "Low Leakage Cryogenic Disconnects for Fuel Transfer and Long-Term Storage." though it was completed after the official deadline. The objective of the challenge was to develop innovative solutions for safely and efficiently transferring cryogenic fluids while minimizing leaks and ensuring long-term reliability in extreme conditions. The project was developed as part of a mechanical engineering course taught by Marcelo Valderrey. This design features a quick coupling for cryogenic liquid transport valves, utilizing magnetic rings to secure the connection without the need for traditional mechanical components. The system is designed to operate in extreme low-temperature environments and focused in no leakage features where cryogenic liquids such as liquid nitrogen or oxygen require a reliable and safe solution to minimize the risks associated with the operation to make it safer and profitable.
