This is a simple tool I designed to assist in removing the Electronic Control Valve (ECV) from the airconditioning compressor of a 2013 Land Rover Discovery 4 SDV6.
The valve is relatively difficult to get at, but once the circlip is removed, this tool slips over the exposed head of the ECV, the locking ring is slid over the ends to help prevent flex and it is then possible to exert a reasonable level of force outwards to hopefully eject the ECV.
NOTE: Before trying to remove the ECV make sure there is no refrigerant in the system .. its has either been recovered or 'leaked' away.
If the system is under any vacuum .. the ECV will be held in by suction. If there is pressure in the system, it may be ejected with considerable force causing injury.
TAKE DUE CARE!!
I recharged the system with 'HyChill Minus 30' and made a support to hold the gas cannister upside down during the process and this can be found elsewhere on Thingyverse as well. ( M
