I have an older Macbook Pro (2012) and am now on the second power supply for it because the cords wear out at the connection point.
I'd tried someone else's design but the weakest structural point was at the point of greatest strain and it snapped after two days.
It does take a bit of doing to get the cord into this but with the aid of a popsicle stick, it went over the cord and slid into place.
