Makerbot Replicator 2X PLA Fan Mount

This is a printable mount for attaching a stock Makerbot PLA Active Cooling Fan Blower (Turbo Fan) to the Makerbot Replicator 2X. This is a “Plug and Play” upgrade and takes about 30 minutes to complete with all parts onsite. Despite the pictured upgrades made to my printer, you do not need them for this to work. This part was designed to be functionally as close as possible to the stock Makerbot part originally intended for the Makerbot Replicator 2. Please note that using PLA in a Makerbot Replicator 2X will void any factory (6 month - 1 year) warranty.

In order to activate the code that turns on the fan during printing in Makerbot desktop, change the material setting from ABS to PLA. If you face clogging issues with PLA in the 2X, use vegetable oil to lubricate the filament. I would suggest printing an filament oiler/sponge holder. *Note: Be sure to use ONLY vegetable oil as its temperature of spontaneity (combustion temp.) exceeds 400F, where as other oils combust at temperature
