This power pod fits into the Mars Lander designed by mech-G. I flew the original design, but had issues with heat affecting the PLA of the power pod. Over time, even PETG will be affected by the heat. So I constructed a composite power pod from paper tubes and PETG printed parts.
The first print with a new power pod, flew successfully 5 times. The rocket finally was broken in a hanger accident. We are currently rebuilding a new model, using more defined construction and better materials.
The four parts for the power pod parts should be printed from PETG. Also required are:
1) BT-60 paper tube 3.8 inches (97.3mm) long
2) BT-50 paper tube 2.75 inches (69.65mm) long
3) A D motor clip
4) Cellophane (clear) tape to hold the clip onto the motor tube
Cutting aids for the two tubes is also included, but optional. These take some learning to use, but a sharp razor and some experience will give you straight clean edges. Two hints: first, lightly sand the edges after the cut with a f
