The fewer structures we can bring with us to Mars, the better. By optimizing our payload space by bringing manufacturing and processing equipment, we can build far more than we'd ever be able to bring with us. By developing process' to be able to do large format printing using material from the site, we can continuously build structures as needed while being able to capitalize on the constant crowd sourcing going on in different design communities back on earth.

The structures can be printed as a solid piece with wiring and the mechanical parts of the airlock being installed later.

To protect the inhabitants, it is important to ensure that the areas where they spend most of their time are covered by a deep layer of regolith to block the cosmic radiation. We use at least 2 meters on all structures (except the greenhouse dome) for protection.

By printing a variety of structures, we can vary the use of the final settlement and optimize the spaces for their final purposes.
