Mars Solar Hive

The Solar Hive habitat draws design queues from the nature combining material efficient and strong structures with easy manufacturing and near infinite expandability. Each structure consists of interchangeable components that allow modules to be made to suit any form or size.

The solar dome covering the habitat provides both energy and protection in the harsh environment on Mars. Each hexagon panel rotates in its housing to align for maximum efficiency during the day, and flips around leaving only the back shielding exposed during the night. The daily rotation cycle keeps the panels clean from sand and dust to extend components lifetime. When rotated and locked to the night mode, the dome shields the habitat from storms and even from small meteors.
