MasterCase 5 VR Front Panel Extension

So I have a dedicated VR machine in my living room. This is awesome when I have friends or family come over so we can all play around the couch. Although I still have plenty of cable length, I have the constant fear that I'm putting stress on a port of the video card or motherboard USB port by having to run it all the way in the back of the computer to the front.

Looking at my case one day I had an idea. I could take a panel where a CD drive would go and make a extension from the back of the case, through the inside of the case, and have a dedicated port in the front. I used this from amazon and made a mock 3d printed bracket. Three hours later and some sanding I get this beautiful thing.


It's a pretty snug fit but it holds. If it pops out I'm going to apply some glue.

Overall it allows me to walk 3-4 extra feet. Also I used a DP to HDMI converter right towards the end.
