In order to increase night visibility I wanted a very light LEDs system for my mini that could be easily removed.
Just buying some 12V LEDs strip and plugging them directly on the battery makes the job to add 12 lights to the Mini. Those strips are stuck onto a 3D printed support.
The overall mass of this thing is less than 5 grams !
The support itself is printed flat, then bent to form using an hair dryer. It is springy enough to stay in place using the 4 screw holes and two tabs to lock it to the mini..
For the connection to the battery, I did not want (yet) to solder anything to the ESC board nor to open the plastic body.
I ended with this solution that does a pretty good and safe contact.
Find a component with 0.4mm diameter legs (capacitors usually have this kind of thin legs). Cut around 2 times 2 cm of wire.
Bend this wire in two, solder the extremity and leave around 5 mm unsoldered.
bend them at 90°, then solder your preferred connector.
With a small JST connect
